Well it is hard to believe it is the end of the 2009/2010 race season already. It seems like we should be on our second or third race is all. As I look outside I know it must be true by all the brown the season has come to an end. It may be done but the memories from this year will end so quickly. It was a great year and the team and I have accomplished many things we set out to try to do. In this newsletter I will do a short recap though of each race for a season end newsletter. My memory is not as good as other so here we go. First off the fall race for Beausejour, Manitoba was cancelled due to warm weather. This left all the teams itching and ready to go for the first race in Shakopee, MN. We had a day of testing before the official start of the race season started on Saturday with the Pro Open class. We finished a respectable 6th place with our 440 sled against the 600 sleds. Sunday it was a little more fair and lead half the race but got passed to end up in 2nd place at the end of the race. We knew the sled has the potential to be a winner so we went back to the race shop and went back to work for the next race. The next race was Amherst, WI. This was the first USSA race of the season. We raced the 600 open class with out 440 and drove though the pack to a 3rd place finish. Champ class was much the same on Sunday and were coming out of turn 4 on the final flap to take the checked flag when we blew a belt. We coasted across the line with a 4th place finish. The next race was the big one, Eagle River Wisconson. We had testing and time trails for the World Championship on Thursday. We timed in 6th fastest for time trails. We also run the 600 open final on Thursday night and ended up 4th in that race with our 440. Friday Night Thunder was next and a great night that was. We won the Friday Night Sweet 16 race and that put us on the pole for Sundays big race. Sunday came and a strong 2nd place finish is how the race ended. With that race anything but a win is disappointing put we kept our heads up and knew we had over half of a season to go to prove we could win races. The next race was the Wausau 525 in Wausau WI. This race has always been special to us because it is in hour of a fallen racer named Flip Merwin. Saturday we raced out 440 sled one again in the 600 open class. With a bad hole shot we finished in 5th place finish. What we really wanted was Sundays final and Sundays final we got. We lead from start to finish and won every heat race on Sunday. This was the second year in a row we have won this race and defiantly one of the most important races of the year. It was a great feeling to win this race in the name of such a great guy. From Wausau we moved on to our home town race of Sauk Centre, MN. The weekend stated on Friday night with the Country Cat Friday night spectacular champ race. We lead this race from flag to flag and took the win. It was time once again to run out 440 in the 600 open class. The sled was running great and ended with a 2th place finish on Saturday’s race. It was Sundays final we wanted to win badly in front of our hometown fans. We got a pretty decent hole shot and moved into the lead with 3 laps of the 15 lap final. With one lap to go and seeing the white flag as I rolled out of turn 4 a belt failure parked us on the infield and cost us the win. It was a disappointing end to the weekend but we knew we had a great weekend even with that mechanical failure. The next race was one we originally did not plan on attending. It was the Fire on Ice race in Weyauwega, WI. We did not race in the 600 open class and had one goal, to win the Central Wisconsin Triple Crown. This was a three race series that included Amherst, Wausau and Weyauwega. We lead every lap of the heat races and final to take the win in the final and the win for the Triple Crown. The crew and I were defiantly happy we decided to go to the event. The next race was the next closest on the schedule for the team. It was the second race of the season for the ORA circuit in Grey Eagle, MN. We had a great run on Saturday with a 2nd place finish in the 600 open final. We chased down the leader at the end only missed the first position by about 4 feet. Sundays Champ 440 class was a good race for us. We won all three heat races. In the final, we battled for the lead for the first two laps then set sail and won the Champ 440 final by 10 seconds over 2nd place. The last race of the ORA race schedule was in Garrison, MN. This was a absolutely awesome weekend for the team and I we won both the Champ 440 and 600 Open feature races. The 600 open race we passed to take the lead mid way though the race. In the champ 440 race we lead from flag to flag and also won on the heat races. It always puts a smile on your face when you have a weekend like that. The last race of the year was in Beausejour, Manitoba for the 48th annual Canadian Power Toboggan Championships. This race track has not been the most favorite for us in the years past. We hoped to break that streak and win this race for the first time. The weekend started on Friday with a full day of testing. On Saturday we finished 4th in the 600 open race with our smaller 440 sled on the big Beausejour track. It was now Sunday and time one of the biggest races of the year for our team. We swept all 4 rounds of qualifying and put us in as top qualifier for the 15 lap final. Off the hole shot we took the lead and never looked back. We won the race with a 11 second lead over 2nd place. This was a dominating victory for us and the first time we have ever won that race. It was great to win that race and end the season on a high note. To sum the season up all I can say is AWESOME! We all worked very hard and learned a lot and made ourselves faster as the season went on. We will be back again next year to try to win some more races and go after that hard number 4 win at Eagle River. I want to thank all my sponsors for all their help. What a night!!! We won our heat race which gave us the key into the Friday Night Thunder Sweet 16. We had the hole shot of the night and we led the entire race crossing over the finish line with an unbelievable win! We now have pole position for the World Championship on Sunday. We now have tomorrow off and will be getting the sled ready for Sundays race!!!!

Had 3 test sessions today. Then we time trialed and finished 6th making it into the Sweet 16 on Friday night. We ran our 440 in the the first and only heat of 600 F1 open finishing 5th in that heat. We run the final at 6pm tonight and will update after the final.

It was an up and down weekend in Amherst, WI at the Portage County Ice Wars. The 600 open races on Saturday afternoon we finished with a 4th 2nd and 3rd in qualifying. They postponed the final until Sunday morning due to light conditions. We ended up with a 6th place spot at the starting line for the final. That final we got off the hole shot in 5th and ran in that position battling with 3rd in 4th most of the race. Passed both with 2 laps to go and crossed the line in 3rd place running our 440 with the 600’s. We were satisfied with that finish considering out 440 is about 25 horsepower less than the stronger 600 sleds. In champ qualifying we ended up with a 1st ,1st and 3rd in qualifying and put us as 3rd qualifier. We were 4th coming down the backstretch off the hole shot and batted third place the entire race. In corner 4 with 2 laps 2 go I passed for 3rd. We held that position until out of turn 4 for the checked flap I blew a belt and coasted across the finish line in 4th with a broken sled. It was a up and down weekend as I had said, we know we have the parts to put together a dominant performance and I know we will. We feel confident going into Eagle River that we have what it takes to put together a competitive performance there. We will be doing extensive testing in the next week to work out the bugs and be 100% ready for the world championship race. First, sorry for the delay in updates it was a hectic date. Results: Heat 1 -4th Heat 2 - 1st Heat 3 - 3rd Heat 4 - 1st Final -- We lead over half the race but ended up loosing the lead with 4 laps to go. There was a red flag about 6 laps into the race that cost us our half a straight away lead. We just couldn't get back into the rythm quick enough and ended the race closely behind the leader with a 2nd place finish. I would like to thank my crew members and sponsors for their hard work. We ended up qualifying 9th for the final. We had to run the LCQ due to only 6 sleds being able to start on the front row due to narrow track conditions. We look forward to racing our 440 tomorrow in the 440 class. It should even out the playing field being we were running our 440 against the 600s today. Thanks and I will update tomorrow. PJ
